Farewell to Summer

Magenta Post 2B

I created this mixed media tag for the Magenta Blog, as a fond farewell to summer in anticipation of autumn – my favorite season of the year.

I cut a tag from watercolor paper and applied crackle paste through the Wavy Texture Stencil and allowed it to dry thoroughly. I sprinkled Hot pink, Scarlet and Red Nuance powders over the surface and spritzed with water. I inked the edges with Jet Black Archival Ink. I stamped Dancing Leaves, Doodled Heart and Large Zen Sunflower Bird onto watercolor paper and painted them with Nuance powders, highlighting images with black and white pens. I fussy cut and assembled the images on the tag with glue and dimensional tape.  I added copper paint to random areas of the crackled surface and the leaves.  I mounted the tag on cardstock, created a faux stitch line around the edge and attached ribbons and twine.

A Dream Come True

Magenta Post

My first post as a Magenta Design Team Member truly is a dream come true. I hope you enjoy my interpretation of how a creation starts in my head, is formed by my hand and is now shared with the world.  Please visit the Magenta Blog for tutorial on how I created this canvas and for a list of supplies used.
